The Offense of Mercy
Why does the mercy of God offend people?
In this message, “The Offense of Mercy,” we look at the moment Jesus sat and ate with sinners—and how it stirred frustration, judgment, and offense in the religious crowd. While the Pharisees questioned His actions, Jesus revealed the heart of the Father: He didn’t come for the righteous, but for the lost.
God’s mercy isn’t earned—it’s given. And when we forget how much we’ve been forgiven, we can begin to resist the very grace that saved us.
This sermon will challenge you to examine your heart:
* Do you rejoice when sinners come to Jesus, or do you question it?
* Have you become more focused on behavior than transformation?
* Are you celebrating mercy, or silently offended by it?
Jesus still sits with sinners today—and that’s good news for all of us.
